Following my January 2015 Purge, where I went through my makeup and got rid of things I wasn’t using (see my Youtube channel for the video, if you haven’t seen it yet), I thought I would do Project Pan. It seems to be a great way to break down the items you want to use up into smaller numbers.
Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Balms mini trio (Honey, Cherry, Rose – not pictured)– my lovely husband got these a couple years ago, while I was still in my phase of buying makeup products recommended by Youtuber beauty gurus. I was intent on trying out everything. Now, with my switch to more natural products and having found some wonderful alternatives, I still feel compelled to use these up. I’m counting these as three items, since each mini tube has surprisingly a lot of product.
Urban Decay Naked 2 eye palette – my beloved nautrals palette. I’ve already hit pan on a couple shades, but slowly, I’m hoping to hit on a few more before I call it quits. I’ve found my natural alternative in Silk Naturals Bare Necessities 2 collection; once I’ve used up the shades I love, I intend to reuse the palette to press the Silk Naturals pigments into. Let’s reuse when we can!
Revlon Moisture Renew lipstick in Picadilly Pink– I know, you’re going to think it’s absolutely silly to hold onto a lipstick because of its name. But if you loved England as much as I do…well, anyway, I do love the Revlon MR formula, it’s smooth, it’s actually moisturizing and I happen to love the everyday pink tone.
Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer – I love a good Josie Maran product, but this one is hard to use up. While it’s a good thing that an item can last for ages, it also takes away from my satisfaction of finishing it. This is that product. One tiny little quarter-pump gets me a glow right out of a beach vacation. I love that it’s yellow-based, unlike the cooler highlighters I’ve used, yet it’s not too warm for my skintone. It looks natural, even in the dead of winter. And I’ve got two bottles of these to use…thank goodness these are the deluxe sizes.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Natural Beauty – I love Tarte products. They’re much cleaner than other major makeup brands. In this case, I’ve fallen for cream blushes, because it’s moisturizing and it stays put. I do have to say, this is one powder blush that has equal staying power, so I’ve held onto it. Slowly working through this while trying not to look like a clown.
Lancome lip Liner in Natural Mauve– Another Yoube-made-me-buy-it item. No one beauty guru actually specified this lip liner, but I thought to myself, “hey, I need a lip liner to round out my stash,” so here we are. I only ever use it to keep red lipstick in place, but the price makes me cringe every time I try to toss it. Yes, buyer’s remorse is felt on this one.
MAC Lustre Lipstick in See Sheer – I wanted MAC because everybody else had MAC. Lesson learned. It turns out I don’t like MAC products, at all. A foundation sample smelled of plastic, I can find natural dupes for the eye shadows and the lipsticks, well, I find them drying. This is a popular color and I like it, but it dries out my lips. I don’t get the hype.
Clinique Mini Chubby Sticks (07 Broadest Berry & 04 Mega Melon) – I love these, they’re buttery and great shades for everyday. But it’s time to move on and really find natural alternatives.
Coach Poppy perfume – I’m counting perfume in my Project Pan, simply because it’s probably one of the most difficult things to empty. I wear this year-round as my in-office scent, as it’s floral, light and doesn’t linger in the air so people can track how many times I use the restroom (hey, I drink I lot of water…). Happy to say this one is almost done.
Calvin Klein Beauty perfume – another one, only this bottle is ridiculously huge. I’m not sure what possessed me to buy the biggest one, maybe because the sales lady ended up giving me a mini bottle to match. But let’s focus on finishing the big one, which is half way there.
Josie Maran Argan Color Stick in Spice – Another product I actually adore. It’s a deluxe sample that offers a natural flush to winter cheeks and smells of ginger. I’m close to finishing this one.
Alicia Silverstone for Juice Beauty Irresistible Glow Facial Highlighter – The name is a mouthful. Love that it comes in paper packaging, love that it’s partnered with one of my idols and love the pinky glow. I wouldn’t call this a highlighter though, it’s still a cream blush. This is on the list not because I don’t enjoy using it, but I need to tackle my cream blush obsession and must start somewhere.
Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Translucent Powder SPF 30 – I needed an on the go compact for touching up oily summer skin, that also offered some sun protection. Let’s see how far I can use this up this year.
It looks like I’ve got sixteen products to use up, which is a good sign as that is my lucky number. Look forward to reporting back on my progress.
