Empties April 2014

I’m back with another small basket of empties, and this time I’ve got a few makeup bits to add to the trash.

Vaseline Spray and Go in Pure Oat Extract was a great concept, and even though the lotion was incredibly thin, it worked when I was in a hurry in the mornings. The smell was light and pleasant. I wouldn’t recommend this for harsh winter dry air. Since I’m moving onto bigger, better and more natural items, I won’t be repurchasing. Lancome’s Bi-Facil Double Action eye makeup remover (not pictured) is a great one to remove waterproof mascara and I have yet to find an all natural version that is similar. I’m on the fence with repurchasing, so this will be a fun challenge to go out and find one comparable.

Fresh Sugar Rose tinted lip balm is the perfect rosy tint for my lips and very moisturizing. I’m not fond of the taste nor the fact that it made me break out all over my chin. While I like the color, I will be finding other alternatives. Stila’s All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer  was the perfect golden tone for my skin, but I’ve got so many other liquid highlighters to use up, so I won’t be giving this a second look. Bare Minerals Stroke of Light Luminous 2 under eye concealer was lightweight and my go-to everyday wake-up-refreshed look product. Now that it’s used up, I’m moving onto my new Silk Naturals HD Concealer #2.

After years of cleaning my brushes with this, I’m finally able to toss the Sephora Purifying Brush Shampoo.  It worked, but I’ll be using Dr. Bronner’s bar or liquid castle soap to clean my brushed from now on.  I’m not sure what turned my scent preferences to Bath and Body Works’ Warm Vanilla Sugar, which I never used to like, but I got through one tube.  I’ll definitely not be repurchasing this, since I want to make sure all my future skincare is all natural.

As for a couple of all natural product I’ve used up, I’ve got Coconut and Shea conditioner, which I absolutely love. I highly recommend this to anyone who needs deep conditioning without weighing down hair (and I’ve got thick hair), that also combats static in dry winter weather.  Josie Maran’s Magic Marker Argan Liquid Eye Liner (not pictured) was the perfect eye liner.  The felt tip pen made it so easy to do a winged look, giving it precision and distributed a color that didn’t smudge or crease.  I have yet to find any sort of eye liner that can compare and I’m pretty sure this will make its way into my makeup collection again.
