Empties No. 2

I am glad to report that I have another basket full of empties!

Empties 3

In haircare, I used up my Everyday Coconut Super Hydrating Shampoo.  Switching to an all natural shampoo was so easy.  I found myself with less buildup and incredibly clean hair.  I love that it’s fair trade and organic.  I finally used up the Bamboo Smooth Kendi Intense Moisture Masque, with organic bamboo & Kendi oil.  I found that this hair masque was too heavy for me.  I would leave it in only for a couple minutes, rather than the advised five and still it would make my hair so heavy and that too-much-product feeling.

Sophia-K Essentials Sophro Herbal Moisture Shampoo was a nice scent and a sample I received in a Conscious Vegan Box.  Clear Therapy Total Care Shampoo and Conditioner were samples I used while I was out of town.  I’m trying to use up all the non-natural items in my stash.  The Ojon shampoo and conditioner samples were also things to use up.  Since they were made for color-treated hair, and I don’t have dyed hair, this was a very gentle, sweet smelling product.  Living Proof’s Amp Instant Texture Volumizer was a sample I couldn’t even use up!  It made my roots feel course and full of product, and the smell!  Not a fan.

Empties 4

I’ve actually used up two Satin Care Olay shave cream bottles, (one not pictured, of course).  Earth Science’s Mint Rosemary deodorant is my favorite all natural deodorant.  It smells amazing and it’s better for your skin than antiperspirant, which clogs the pores.  I used up a Lush Sexy peel bar soap – A great citrus wake-up for the morning.  I got the In the Raw Organic Fair Trade African Shea Butter sample from my last Natural Beauty Box subscription.  It was a generous sample, incredibly moisturizing pure shea butter that I slathered on my hands every night.  Loved the results, though the smell wasn’t too appealing, so I added a few drops of lavender essential oil.

Empties 5

Two bags of dollar store cotton pads have been used, as well as a pack of Delon Costco cotton pads.  (If it seems excessive since my last Empties post, Empties No. 1, my husband uses a few of these items.)

Empties 6

Makeup!  I am happy to say I’ve got some empties in this category.  I added the Julep Age Defying Hand Lotion to this photo last minute, a sample I used while out of town in early August.  Eos lip balm in Melon, Clinique’s Fresh Bloom Allover Colour blush in 01 Peony, and L’Oreal’s lip stain in Rose On and On.  The two Rimmel the Max Volume Lash mascara in waterproof were long due to be tossed.  Finally used up Urban Decay’s Cannonball Waterproof mascara, which still smudged on me…and E.l.f.’s Shine Eraser blotting sheets get the job done (almost) for $1.

Empties2In skincare, I used up the CVS Eye Makeup Remover, which didn’t quite work out.  I used up the Dickinson’s 100% all natural oil controlling astringent, Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel was gentle on the skin, and Philosophy’s Microdelivery exfoliating facial wash was great for an everyday exfoliation.  I finished a Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel sample, as well as the Derma Blend Professional Long Wear Makeup Remover, which I found to leave an oily residue on my face after washing.    Burt’s Bees’ Natural Acne Solutions Spot Treatment with willow bark and salicylic acid is a go-to for blemishes and spot treatment.  And finally, Boots Botanics Softening Cleanser 82% Organic with nourishing rose hip is such a gentle, non-oil-stripping milky cleanser that I will be repurchasing very soon.  Loved that feeling of it on my skin.

I guess it was another long post, but that means a long list of used products.  Feeling pretty good about the amount of samples I’ve gone through, since this means I’m not hoarding too many beauty products.  Another step to simplifying my life.
