August 2013 Non-Favorites

With every month, there are favorites and then the not-so favored beauty items.  This past month or so, I’ve found a few items that I’m not crazy about.

Aug13 NonFave

Yes to Carrots Hydrating Body Lotion with SPF 30 was something my husband and I picked up awhile back as a natural sunscreen solution.  Unfortunately, this had the consistency of rubbing clay on my body.  I’ve tried squeezing the tube to mix it from within and still, it’s like clay.  A pretty expensive disappointment.

Maybelline’s the Falsies Volume Express waterproof mascara still smudged, so therefore, not waterproof enough for me.  And something about the way the brush curves always seems to get mascara onto my contacts whenever I applied it.

I got Juice Beauty’s Hydrating Mist in an Ipsy bag a few months ago and I still can’t get myself to like the scent.  I think it’s because I’m not crazy about Ylang Ylang…What am I to do with this mist?  I don’t know anyone who could possibly want this.

I got CVS’s Eye Makeup Remover because reviews seemed to be positive.  It says on the bottle that it removes waterproof makeup.  Sadly, I think I lost more eyelashes from using this, because I was rubbing at my eyes, desperate to remove my makeup.  I’d soak my cotton pad with this solution and still, it would take ten minutes or more to get my mascara off.  I think in the end, it’s better I stick with an oil-based eye makeup remover.  So, the CVS brand didn’t live up to what everyone was saying.

I don’t think I’ll be doing too many non-favorite posts, but these few items were a big disappointment.  I count the Juice Beauty mist only because it is such a great brand of all natural skincare and makeup, but the scent is strong and unappealing.  Anyone have any current beauty disappointments or non-favorites? Leave a comment below, I’m curious to see what you’ve tried that hasn’t lived up to its positive reviews.
