I can pack light when I need to, paring down to the absolute essentials. But as I compile my things for a long weekend camping, I find myself with a tote full of items dedicated to beauty. I’m looking forward to not only being able to get away and be with nature, but to use up some beauty samples.
Because this was pitch-a-tent-cook-with-a-dutch-oven sort of camping, I focused my beauty items to more skincare and kept makeup to a minimum – and only because just in case we head into town for sight seeing.
My first pouch (yes, there’s more than one…) focused on facial skincare. From left to right, cotton pads, Clinique’s Super Block SPF 40, Elf Mineral Revitalizing Mist to refresh in hot weather, Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Astringent, Josie Maran’s Argan Cleansing Oil to deep clean campfire smoke and sweat from the day, Desert Essence Touch Stick with Tea Tree Oil, Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Face Wash, Kiehl’s Supremely Gentle Eye Makeup Remover, just in case I decide to wear mascara, Boots Botanics Hydrating Night Cream All Bright, Boots Botanics Mattifying Day Cream SPF 15 Shine Away, Boots Botanics Hydrating Eye Cream Age Defense, & Dickinson’s Oil Controlling Towelettes.
The second bag contained the bare minimum makeup pieces. I kept the theme on the natural side. Left to right, then going clockwise: Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in 120 Coral Spark, Elf Golden Bronzer quad, I kept it light with Rimmel’s BB Cream 9-in-1 Skin Perfecting Super Makeup SPF 25 in Medium, Tarte’s LipSurgence in Enchanted, EcoTools retractable kabuki brush, Physician’s Formula Happy Booster blush in Natural, EcoTools concealer brush, Elf small stippling brush, Elf tapered blush brush, EcoTools powder brush, Stila All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer, Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Volumizing mascara, Julep Daylight Defense Lip Balm SPF 15 in Vanilla Mint, C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve, Benefit duo in Lemon-Aid and Boi-ing 02, and Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Airbrushing Pressed Powder in Translucent. I may not use everything, but I will at least be using the BB cream and powder to even out my skin tone and keep the shine away.
The third bag is body care and here, I will only mention some of the important bits. First Aid Beauty’s Smooth Shave Cream is wonderful and compact, I love it for travel. Vaseline Spray and Go in Pure Oats Extract is perfect for the inconvenient camp shower stalls, Tresemme’s dry shampoo for keeping my thick, oil-prone hair a bit cleaner (sometimes the shower stalls are just a bit too gross to want to spend that much time in…). And I can’t go anywhere without my trusty Crabtree & Evelyn’s Hand Therapy in Lavender.
And finally, the miscellaneous bits. Badger Balm in Night Night Balm is perfect for putting me in a relaxing mood, Herbal Armor is an all natural, Deet-free and cruelty-free way to keep the insects away and my favorite sunscreen is Kiss My Face Sun Spray Lotion in SPF 30.
Quite a lot of beauty products for a long weekend in the woods, but the camp fire smoke and dirt really can wreak havoc on skin that’s already fussy. I hope these beauty bits do their job well. Here’s to a relaxing weekend away.
